"Architecture should not be in the form of solid walls coming together; instead nature, Sunlight and Wind(Flow) and design strategies should come together and make it a masterpiece. A truly well-designed solution."

Wayang: Entertainment on Stilts

Module: P3

Project: Wayang: Entertainment on Stilts

Design Brief:
To rejuvenate Raffles's landing site by building an outdoor exhibition space.

Synopsis:
To look into the life and entertainments of the Teochew immigrants in Nanyang during the 18th Century. I've selected an interesting past-time they had, which is the Chinese Opera also known as Wayang. Through studies, I've extracted the essence of Wayang through its colours, the make-shift stage by the river and the "emotions" felt behind the curtains.

To also reminisce about the significance of the Singapore River and have a share of our forefather's favourite past-time. This exhibition is designated to educate people of the gradual disappearance of traditional Arts and to unfold stories of the crew members and their lives.

Project P: A place for an Architect

Module: P1

Project: Cubism

Design Brief: To design a Studio for Tadao Ando(Architect) based on his design philosophies

Synopsis:
Being my first major project, I've decided to work on Tadao Ando's studio as I was inspired by his way of unity through thick concrete walls and the nature. I've approached my design by trying to incorporate water and the use of underground spaces. I've also created a strong axis for the staircase as Tadao Ando likes to create emphasis on them. Lastly, the geometrical shapes I've chosen are tilted and placed together to create angled walls, making it feel abstract.

3M BY 3M, One man dwelling space

Module: Environmental Elements

Project: The Cube House, One-man dwelling space

Design brief: To design a 3M by 3M dwelling space for a client (classmate)

Synopsis:
According to my client's ones and needs, I've designed a one-man dwelling space by the Bedok Reservoir (site). My client prefers simplicity and likes the use of French Windows thus they're being explored in my design. She also have special requests such as to bring in natural ventilation and to block out the morning sun and allow the penetration of the evening rays. My design has been rotated and have choosen a specific area in the site to allow this to happen. She have requested for the setback of her "home" to be by the waterbed.

Shall explore~  This shall be used as my Design Portfolio, where I'll upload many pictures regarding my designs. Okay, crap. Will update soon, still finding a site to blog about P4. I'll make it an online reflective journal.
